Core Build-up

After root canal treatment Dr. Starr may place a core build-up inside the opening that was created to perform the root canal treatment. Teeth that have been diagnosed with a crack will generally have a core build-up placed, and if needed, a special flexible post.

Post & Core Build-up

After root canal treatment, if the tooth lacks sufficient structure to hold the final restoration, either Dr. Starr or your general dentist will place a post inside the tooth. The post’s sole purpose is to retain the core build-up, which is needed to rebuild the adequate structure to hold the final restoration.
